Go COUGARS!!

Aunt Tallie made sure to hook Collin up with his BYU gear so come the first game, we decked him out.

For Seth's birthday Grannie Annie was at BYU at education week so she sent him a package and inside was a BYU hat, hoodie and football!  He was so excited cause Cordelle has some just like it.  I have yet to get a picture of all the boys in their BYU gear for one reason or another but I will and then I'll post that.  Cute boys!

Collin ONE month old!!

One month old!  10.5 lbs!

Hurray, we survived the first month!

 First month Facts:
Loves to nurse suck on anything (even pacifiers) WHAHOO!
Mom has overactive let down so every feeding includes choking, stops breathing and gagging. :(
Too much milk?  Lots of spit up that you swallow - nothing almost ever comes out of your mouth
Sleeps most of the day and night
Eats about every 3 hours even at night
VERY GASSY
Loves his feet to be warm (story: one night he was so fussy and cordelle just clenched onto both his feet with his hands and Collin instantly calmed down.  So just to test the theory, he let go of his fee and again Collin started crying only to stop immediately when Cordelle grabbed his feet with his hands.  I think his feet were just cold!)
Favorite game is the quiet game.  Dad had the older kids play it with him and they got a kick out of it!  Collin usually wins but when he makes a noise or grunts the older kids love to point out that Collin is "OUT" as they giggle uncontrollably of course.
Still poops at every feeding...even rocketed one from mom's bed to the wall (now that some serious pressure).  We've been peed on and exploded on....all part of the game.
Took a bottle great so mom could go to Bunko at 2 weeks.
Went to Sacrament meeting once and has been to the store twice.

They love to play with him.  The older kids new thing is saying to the other "Oh Seth/Jaq you should have seen this, Collin.....(smiled or made this face etc)" And then the other one will want to see so they'll try to make him do it again. They'll go back and forth with each other on this little phrase.  Pretty cute.

Seth turns into a 6 year old Jedi

I am crazy, that's all I can say.  And thanks to the phenomenon Pinterest I have more crazy ideas popping up all the time.  This time's crazy adventure was Seth's 6th birthday.  I would literally lie awake at night (while I should be sleeping considering I have a 2 week old baby that keeps me up most the night) thinking about and planning his party.  I think I secretly enjoy it, you know, planning things like this (which is ironic due to the amount of stress caused by youth conference...see youth conference post).  There were just so many ideas on Star Wars birthday parties I couldn't ignore them. Here's how it went down.  We started the party making our own paper R2-D2's, followed by adorning all his friends in jedi robes and enrolling them in Jedi training.  Cordelle was the Jedi master that taught them how to use a light saber.  Then we hit the death star pinata (created by Seth and I over the course of 3 days which, note to self, was ridiculously tedious and tricky to make and probably survived only 4 whacks from my 5-6 year old crowd).  Then onto my main event.  I had set up this whole Jedi training course in my back yard and they all took turns running through it with their light sabers.  Obstacles included helium balloons with storm trooper faces on them tied down to pieces of wood that the kids would knock over with their light sabers, shooting little star wars action figures with a nerf gun, saving princess lea (Jaq up in the swing set), crawling through tunnels and over lakes (swimming pools) and ending fighting Darth Vader (Cordelle) in the garage.  It had its strengths and weaknesses but I think it turned out pretty fun.  I even caught Seth setting up another training course weeks later similar to the one he had so at least it made an impression.  We followed up with cake and ice cream and an air compressor powered, 2-liter bottle rocket in the back yard till parents came.
So here are the pictures. I cant believe I didnt get any pics of the training course (but we were literally still setting it up when kids came).  I did get video of them running through it.   I promised myself and Seth that we have to switch off and do a family party next year.  He was of course totally confused at why we would do that and I will probably cave and do another friend extravaganza next year so I dropped the topic.  Thankfully Collin slept through the whole thing and Cordelle was home to help because 8 kids thinking they were real Jedi's was a handful.
Cordelle looks more like a Nephite than a jedi master but oh well.  You tell a kid he's a jedi master and the costume is irrelevant

Jaq was supposed to be lea and one of the girls (McKinnley) didn't want to be a jedi, but I think everyone had a good time

cake and ice cream!

Seth's 6th Birthday

For Seth's real birthday he scored a Razor scooter, some new clothes, a starwars backpack and a storm trooper helmet!  Then we took the kids to the aquatic center but because I'm only 2 weeks postpartum, we decided to let Dad do the supervising.  It was fun for the kids and good for Dad to hang out with them at the pool.  Grandma and Grandpa Morris came down to meet Collin and to help celebrate Seth's birthday, so after the aquatic center we stopped at Dairy Queen for ice cream and I brought cupcakes to sing happy birthday too.  We had to wait till Dad got home from work to start the evening so it was a little late getting home but DQ and cupcakes was probably more memorable than doing it at home!

Collin's FIRST week at home

Dad and Collin

The soft of all soft blankets!  This this was an instant soother and sleep getter for this little dude.  Thanks aunt Tallie!

I know this is a weird pic with the lighting and all but I love when new born's just cuddle up on your chest and you can feel their head on your cheek and it just makes you want to cuddle them more!

Cute little monkey onesie my friend Melissa made for him

Okay I love this outfit that Jaq had me put him in one day socks and shoes included.
I mean check out those skinny little legs and the size of those shoes compared to his body! Ha cracks me up to see it still

A close up of the shoes!

Jaq holding fish like Collin all bundled up.  Doesn't he just look so comfortable in that position?

Seth taking his turn cuddling Collin.  He did (while I was out of the room) tell me he picked up Collin from the ground where I had laid him and put him in his lap.  I asked him how he did this and found out he picked him up with both hands around his waste (I'm sure his little head was just flopped back).  Luckily it was only from the ground to his lap but we had a serious talk and a new rule that NO KIDS pick up Collin ever!  Other than that Seth has loved and loved Collin and actually hasn't been overly frustrated with his crying.  He is the best binkie putter inner and loves to kiss his head repeatedly.

Cute kids right?

We all are a little tired around here lately!  Seriously she is asleep!  Guess getting that other leg up there was just too much effort at the time.

The first walk outside.  Needless to say, the running stroller is a bit on the big side so we had to pack him in like a pea in a pod.  A smaller, lighter stoller is on its way....hurray!  Can't believe I used this one with both kids for just walking around.

And of course we get a little of the "my other kids are massive" syndrome once we bring home a new born, but seriously they do look massive compared to him.
