I cant believe it but, Seth is finally in Kindergarten!! Technically he could have gone last year but I think my decision to keep him one extra year was a good one. He is now the oldest and definitely ready for this year at school.
I decided to ask write down how his first day went as he told it to me so here it is.
Least favorite part was recess because it was “too loud” - (I found out later that this was his excuse because his 2 little girl friends ran off and he couldn't find them. He said at recess time everyone just runs to the swing set but he wanted to walk and so he lost everyone. He then spent the whole recess crying by a tree. I asked him why he didn't go ask a teacher for help but I guess the teacher told the kids they couldn't just hang around the teacher at recess, I'm assuming so the kids would go out and play and make friends, but Seth thought it was an absolute rule and so he didn't want to even go near his teacher for fear of breaking a rule. So he sat by a tree all lonely and cried. SO sad huh? (I had to explain that the teacher probably just wanted everyone to go play but that if he needed help, he could ask the teacher to help him find his friends) --this took some time but eventually his best friend Madi agreed to wait for him to go to recess in the future, even though she wanted to "run" to the playground and Seth just wanted to "walk." Silly kid.
He did however see Jaxon from soccer and Conner b and savannah from preschool at recess
He discovered that there was another kid allergic to peanuts that sits at his table but cant remember his name
He read a book about a toad and a frog that ate tons of cookiesHe thinks his teacher is nice
He thinks going on the rug is "lame" because all you do is talk and read stories
He brought home play-dough that changed colors
He said the whole time he was thirsty but didn't get a drink
And out of good, ok, and bad it was just an “medium” day
Madi, McKinnley (his two best friends) and thank heavens they are in his class!! and Seth in front of the Enoch Tiger |
Madi and Seth (all three of them sit at the same table even) What are the odds? |
I knew something was off when I saw him here. Of course he was being tough and I had to dig out every detail of his day, but overall he had a rough start, but tomorrow will be better. |
And the biggest incentive for the first day of school is the giant cookie tradition waiting for him at home. |
