| First day of School. (1st grade) |
Isn't he a handsome first grader? He is going to do so well this year. I can tell! All we have to do is get past the fear of the unknown school lunch :P
Ahh the giant cookie! Nothing says welcome home from a rough first day like a Giant chocolate chip cookie! (I only say rough, cause any big day change is rough for Seth.) I found out later he only cried twice the first day. Mostly when he found out his teacher did not stay with him at lunch time. He sat in the lunch room all through lunch while a sweet lunch aid helped him understand that his teacher needs to eat lunch too and he got to go out to recess and then he would meet back up with her soon. :) He still struggles with being anywhere where an adult is not supervising especially an adult he doesn't know. But he is getting more brave every year and learning how to adjust to new situations. We did however have a few tears later the next week after coming back from the weekend when he couldn't remember what to do with his lunch tray... or the time when he had big anxiety of bringing a "home lunch" when they were serving peanut butter and jelly which he couldn't eat. Thanks to his good friend Jackson ElHalta, who asked his mom to make a sack lunch for him that day too so Seth wouldn't have to do it alone, he made it through ok. Thank heavens for good friends, lunch aids, and teachers who help your kids out when you cant.
The Wedding ( reception )
So how was I able to do all this with Seth when my brother Mark was getting married in Salt Lake? Well I had to make a decision and it wasn't easy. I really wanted to be here for Seth on his highly anticipated first day of school and for our birthday traditions. I don't know if it was more for me or more for Seth, but I knew if I was up north I would be stressed and concerned that I wasn't home with and for Seth. So I chose to stay home and go up for just the reception. I know that sounds awful. I missed my own brothers wedding! Thinking about it, I ask myself could Cordelle have done the whole birthday/school thing without me? Probably. Was it the right decision? I dont know. It felt right at the time, but since then my brother has unfriended me on facebook and I'm pretty sure that's why. (shrug) That's sad for me but I understand all actions come with consequences. If I could find a way to convince him that even by me not going, I still love and support him with all my heart, then I would do it. But hopefully for now I can do my best just to love him and his new wife and hope they forgive me.
Here are some pictures from the reception which was beautiful by the way.
